About me

Caitlin is a freelance illustrator living in Los Angeles. Primarily, she creates work for editorial and advertising clients. But she has worked in publishing, entertainment and fashion.
Her work has been called "Period Appropriate Whimsy" which is an apt description. Caitlin's illustrations and paintings are bright, colorful and thoughtfully detailed. She has a penchant for fashion from other eras, patterning and flowing hair. She is an expert at both acrylic painting and watercolor, but uses the computer for digital coloring as well. Often her goal is to create a seamless blend of both traditional and digital media.

Caitlin has a BFA in Illustration from the California College of Arts and Crafts, and an MFA in painting from the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine arts in Philadelphia. She returned to San Francisco after grad school to teach at her alma mater for nearly eight years. At CCA she taught illustration, drawing and watercolor, and she was also the Program Expert (Advising Liaison) for the illustration department.

Some of her clients include: The Criterion Collection, Pepsi, Rolling Stone, Mother Jones Magazine, Penguin Books, Puma, GQ, Nylon, Herman Miller, Spin Magazine, The Progressive Magazine, Scholastic Inc., Billboard / Oprah Magazine, Out Magazine, 7x7, Cricket Magazine and Good Housekeeping

Her work has been recognized by American Illustration, The Society of Illustrators and Communication Arts.
